What happens when robots and AI take over jobs?

Bill Gates suggests we should “tax the robots” and maybe we can use that to fund Universal Basic Income for displaced workers.

I think this is a step towards the right direction. And we have need to have this conversation soon.

Because if we don’t prepare, mass job loss could lead to something bigger: social collapse.

It’s not that simple though.

There are a lot of questions we need to answer. For example:

1. What exactly counts as a “robot”? Will AI software that replaces a call center agent be taxed?

2. Will it slow down innovation or discourage companies from adopting tech?

3. Will businesses just outsource work to countries with no robot tax or lower rules?

4. And most importantly — if we do implement Universal Basic Income, how do we make sure it actually helps the people… and not just end up in politicians’ pockets?

There are no easy answers. That’s why we need to start the conversation now.

Because one thing is clear:

📌 The robots are coming. But the bigger issue is — are we doing enough to prepare everyone?

What do you think?
